04-13-11 Looks like we are finally going to get the spring sports season underway. The snow is gone from most fields and they are drying. Looking forward to a spring full of good baseball, softball, lacrosse, and track.

03-29-11 Spring sports are due to start soon. We need some warmer weather to get rid of the snow. The Norwich Lacrosse team is due to play tomorrow against Castleton. I have never been to see one of their games. I don't know where they play but I would think it may be some cold.

03-07-11 Tonights games at the Barre AUD and Div 1 games at UVM have been cancelled until Tuesday night 03-08-11 at the same times. This leaves you time to shovel.

Playoffs at The AUD

Monday 03-07-11 starts another year of playoffs at the AUD. There are very few places better than the Aud to watch a basketball game. I look forward to these games every year. Tonight there is a division 4 girls semi final game at 6:30 pm and a Div 2 girls semi final game at 8:15 PM. There are more semi final games Wednesday and Thursday with three championship games on Saturday. This is some of the best girls high school basketball you will see. Next week the boys have the same type schedule. Vermont High School March Madness. Don't miss it!

2010-11 Basketball

The 2010-11 basketball season is coming to an end. The girls end this week and the boys next week. The playoffs and championships to follow. It's been a great season and I have been Lucky enough to see about 50 high school and college games. I have posted a lot of photos (1,500 plus) on the web site for your enjoyment. I have a few things that have bugged me this season but I am going to give it more thought before commenting. I can't wait to get to the Barre Auditorium to see some quality basketball.

11-14-10 Randolph Center, Vt.

Eastern Maine Community College competed against the Green Knights of Vermont Technical College Sunday. The Lady Knights played first winning their second game of the season 54-37. Sophomore Kelly Vellek from Burlington lead the Lady Knights scoring 24 points including 6 three pointers. The Lady Knights won their first game against Unity College 66-23 the day before.

In the second game the men took charge winning 94 to 73. Green Knight senior Nick Simpson from Bay City, MI scored 30 points with Junior Kevin Carr from Wesminster, MD adding 25 points in the Knights second win of the year. The men won their first game against Nashua 118-59 the Sunday before.

Both teams are now 2-0. The next home games will be against Lyndon State on Nov. 30th. Photos from the game can be seen at CVSPORTSINFO.com

I have not been good at blogging. I am hoping to do a little better this year. I hope to write each week about local basketball. I follow Whitcomb, Rochester, Sharon, Chelsea, South Royalton, Williamstown, and Randolph High Schools. I also follow Vermont Technical College and maybe a little of Norwich University. Football practice begins today and all other fall sports practice begins next Monday. I am looking forward to a great sports season. The 2010 fall sports season is just around the corner. CVSPORTSINFO.com already has some of the schedules posted on the site and will post more as soon as we get them. With any luck we should have a great fall sports season.
I am hoping to do a little more in depth reporting on the local area teams and games. Please check back and see if there is anything that interests you.

I know my truck is old but it does go 65 mph. Last Friday I drove to Barre and back. At 65 mph I never passed a car and I must have been passed by 80 plus vehicles. I guess those signs that say the speed limit is 65 MPH are just for show.

Today is Championship Sunday for Vermont Girls Basketball in Div 4 at 2 pm and in Div 2 at 5 pm. Should be two good games of high school basketball. The Barre Aud is a great place to watch a basketball game. I will see you there.

Basketball season is more than half over. We now know who the weak teams are and who the strong teams are. The stronger teams seem to get a lot of support but the weak teams have trouble getting fans. Your right, its a little boring sometimes to see a team getting beat by a large margin. The weaker team is out there trying their best and they deserve some support. Please support all your local teams.

We wish you all a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to a 10 more weeks of good high school basketball. Hope to see all local teams at least twice and maybe more. It's our hope that many central Vermont teams make it to the Aud.

Would like to write here more often but can't find the time. Basketball, wrestling, gymnastics and Christmas has kept me pretty busy. I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. Just a few more games till the Christmas holidays and then back into high school winter sports action. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

11-22-09 Basketball Begins

Wednesday night the 18th I went up to see the VTC Women's basketball team play Hesser. This was my first game of my favorite sports season. The Lady Knights had a difficult night losing to Hesser by a wide margin. It's hard to judge based on one game but I would say the VTC women may have a difficult season ahead of them.

Saturday the 21st I went down to the Randolph gym and watched some high school girl scrimmages. The Randolph, Thetford, and Williamstown girls had a series of 20 minute scrimmages. The high school season starts Dec 2nd and many high school teams in the area are having scrimmage games to prepare for the new season.

I hope to see many games this season. From opening day to the finals at the Aud, it should be a exciting year.

11-07-09 Div 4 Soccer Championships

11-07-09 Division IV Vermont State Soccer Championships were held at College of St. Joseph in Rutland. In the first game Sharon Boys played against Black River for the Division IV crown. A very well played game went into two overtimes then a shootout in which Black River came out on top.

The second game featured the South Royalton Lady Royals against Arlington. Another well played game that went into overtime. Arlington scored the sudden death goal to win the Girls Div IV championship.

All teams played exceptionally well and deserve credit for a great season. Thanks for a great season.

10-01-09 The 2009 Soccer season is about 1/2 over. If you have not seen any games yet there is still time left. Today the Randolph Gal Ghosts host Oxbow at 4 PM. The gal and guy Royals of South Royalton will host Rivendell and the Whitcomb boys will host Twinfield.
As in any year there are strong teams and weak teams but all the kids do their best and should be supported by their communities.
The leaves are turning color and I hope to get some good photos this weekend to share with you.
Saturday is a big day in cross country with one of the biggest meets of the season at the Thetford woods run. This is a good chance to support the kids and enjoy the foliage at the same time.

09-23-09 The Randolph Galloping Gal Ghosts pulled out a double overtime win over Stowe. The Ghosts had the game well in hand with a 1-0 lead but with 53 seconds left in regular play Stowe was able to score and send the game into sudden death overtime. Neither team was able to score in the first overtime but the Gal Ghosts scored in the second overtime for the win. The Gal Ghosts next game will be in Northfield this Friday 09-25-09.

09-16-09 Tough Loss For Ghosts

The Guy Ghosts hosted the Montpelier Solons Wednesday in Randolph. This was a well played match that was tied 1-1 at the end of regular play. I believe there was about 33 seconds left in overtime when the Solons were able to punch one in for the win. See photos on CVSPORTSINFO.com

This was a tough loss for the Ghosts who will travel to Oxbow Friday for their next match.

1st Full Week of sports

09-13-09 First full week of soccer season is over. Wins and losses matter but I hope you all had fun. If you are not having fun then perhaps you should re-consider. My feeling is, this is high school and I doubt 99.9% are going to be pros. High School sports are to be enjoyed and if the pressure is too much and you are not enjoying the games, perhaps it's time to try something else. High School is but a few short years of your life.I enjoy the games and I hope you do too. The next few weeks have many games attend and I will try to get to as many as possible.

08-07-09 Saw "Songs For A New World" at Chandler Music Hall in Randolph. Loved it. You still have chance to see it Saturday Aug 8th at 2 and 8 pm. Well worth the $10.

Dragon Boat Racing

Went to the Dragon Boat Races in Burlington,Vt. today. Big crowd and lots of paddlers. The wind and rain held down the action. They had to reduce the amount of paddlers from 20 to 16 because of rough water and a number of boats over turning. The weather got worst and the event was cut short. 2009 Fall High School Sports

It's August. On the 17th practice can begin for most all high school sports. First games for most sports will be the 31st. I am looking forward to the new season. I am planning on seeing and photographing Randolph, Bethel, Rochester, South Royalton, Chelsea, and Sharon teams as my core group. I may expand a little to cover Williamstown, Northfield, U32, Spaulding, and Montpelier. Of course all the opponents they play will be included in the photos posted on the site.

Parents, if you have a child playing and you are trying to get a good shot, stop by and let me know. I will try to get some shots of that child also. They play for a few short years and it's a shame not to have some photos for the memories that last long after high school is over.

Been on Vacation

I have been to Califonia on vacation this past week. I will have a lot of photos to share but I am not sure where I will post them yet. I should have a link on my website soon. It was a great vacation. I photographed a lot with more than 1,500 photos taken. I will edit it down to the top 10% or so. Only 6 weeks away from High School Fall Sports. Looking forward to another great year.

I am sorry I mis-labeled three photos I sent to The Herald of Randolph.
They printed a photo of a South Royalton Girl running the hurdle's with a description of another photo I had sent of Mikala Dieffenbach of Whitcomb who also ran the event. It was totally my fault and not the fault of The Herald.
I am sorry the South Royalton girl did not get the acknowledgment she deserved. I would mention her name if I knew it.

I apologize to both athletes.
I will do my best not to let this happen again.

This is one part of this site I don't seem to keep up very well. Basketball season is over and spring sports are underway. I have been to a few games; softball, Baseball, and Lacrosse.
I am looking forward to a few track meets but most are so far away. I hope you are enjoying the photos I take. I am working on a little video but I don't have that good of equipment to do a good job of it. I hope to cover some little league this spring and after graduation I am hoping to cover some adult sports.

If you have some sporting event you think I should photograph, please let me know. I will try to make it but it depends on available time.

Basketball Season Underway

As of 12-13-08 I have seen 9 high school games, some good and some not so good. I was very impressed by the Randolph Boys win over Northfield. The next time I saw them play was at Mt. Abe. This was a very exciting game with Randolph losing by 1 point. I think the Randolph boys will be a team to watch this year. The Randolph Girls have started the season losing the first 4 games. They seem to be improving and I hope they can turn the season around. More later.

High School Basketball 12-01-08

This is the week that kicks off the new high school sports season. We have boys and girls basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling. Get up, get out and enjoy these events. The kids work hard and deserve your support.

I will be posting as many photos as possible and covering as many local central Vermont teams as I can. Look here in the future as I may have some thoughts of interest or I may print controversial comments for your reactions. Whether you agree with me or not, I will see you at the games.

VTC Men's Opening Game

VTC men came out flying high Saturday Nov. 15th vs Unity College. In the first 5 minutes of the game VTC jumped to a 20 to 0 lead. 15 minutes in the score was 44 to 10. By half time VTC was ahead 52-12. The final score ended up 94 to 34.

To me that was a very impressive game. Perhaps Unity has a weak team but VTC showed some great moves, passing, and team work. I believe you should see them play and enjoy some good basketball.

Next game for the men will be tomorrow night Wednesday 11-19-08 at 8:00 pm vs Hesser. The women have a game at 6:00 PM. Then Saturday VTC plays UMaine/Augusta with the women playing at 1 and the men at 3. Come and enjoy some good basketball.

Winter Sports Season

The winter sports season is almost here. Vermont Technical College starts their first basketball games on Saturday Nov. 15th. vs Unity. The women play at 1 pm and the men at 3 pm. High school practice starts on the 17th with high school games starting the beginning of December.

It's too bad that some schools including Whitcomb can not field a varsity boys team. I noticed in soccer that some teams did not have a deep bench. I guess there is just too much for the youth to do and sports is not what a lot of them want to do.

Perhaps is starts in grade school sports programs. The coaches want their team to win so bad they tend to play their stronger players. The weaker players that need playing time to develop their skills and confidence don't get the time. By the time they reach the high school level they have given up and therefore the number of players is just not there. The stronger players are going to remain strong and will develop on less playing time.

Think it over coaches and sports directors. Could this be the problem? If not what is? The kids are there, why are they not attracted to the sports programs?

10-14-08 Sharon at Rochester Girls Soccer

Tuesday Oct. 14th the Chelsea girls soccer team (11-0) traveled to Rochester (11-1).

In my view it was a very evenly matched game. Rochester was able to score on their opportunities and came out on top 2-1. Watch for these teams when the playoffs start next week.
